Q & A

What is your Vision?

To become one of the Strongest Bench Pressers in the World. I also see the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation becoming one of the Nation's Premiere Lifting Federations.

What are some of your Goals?

To Bench Press 600 lb. Drug Free and have the athletes that I coach become the best they can be 100% Drug Free.

How do you stay Disciplined?

My parents did a great job teaching me right from wrong. I learned at a young age that if you want something you need to work for it. My strong work ethic is what has kept me disciplined.

Tell us why you remain Drug Free?

Because I don't want to die from cancer, which steroids can lead to. I work out to be healthy and to enjoy my life. For me I can remember what happened to Lyle Alzado, that's not the way I want to live or die.

What got you interested in Lifting?

I have always been competitive and after college football, I needed something to keep me motivated to work out. Striving to be the best, makes me work harder.

How much could you Bench when you first started?

I was in 8th grade, when one day kids in school were talking about how much they could bench. I went home and jumped on my brothers bench and worked my way up to 162lbs. I weighed 120lbs.
My first competition was 275lbs at 148lb class in the (17-18) age group.

Who is your Workout partner(s)?

Current partners are Jeremy Wright, Ferrell Banks and Kinta Mallory. Past partners include Scott Lindstrom, Pat O'Brien and Carl Elliot.

Describe a normal Bench Workout?

Monday we do our chest. I do a reverse Pyramid. I warm up and go to

Flat Bench
1 set 465lbs x 3 reps
2 sets 405lbs x 8-10 reps
2 sets 385lbs x 8-10 Pauses

Incline Bench
3 sets 315 x 8-10 reps
Decline Bench

2 sets of Dumbell fly's

How many times per week do you lift?

3

How long does each workout last?

60 minutes

Where do you workout?

Fitness Warehouse in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

After the Bench what is you next favorite Powerlifting event?

The Deadlift. I pulled 710 lb. in 1991.

What is your least favorite event/exercise?

I hate to shoulder press. I seem to get kinks in my neck everytime I do a Military Press.

How do you prepare Mentally for a meet?

I listen to music to pump me up.

What is your favorite food?

Being 100% Italian I must say Anything Italian is great. I love my mom's homemade Italian cooking.

Do you have a Nickname?

When I played 7 years of semi-pro football they called me "Tank" but these days most people call me "Coach or Boss."

Tell us about your Family.

I live alone with my 2 dogs Buddy and Jr.

Do you have a favorite quote or saying?

RAW means TRUE POWER!
